It’s K.P. Anderson on LSQC125. K.P and I go back many years. Before kids even. That’s over twenty Years!! He is a very successful Writer, Producer and Showrunner. I’m producing a podcast 15 years too late.
As the Head of Pygmywolf Productions, K.P.’s area of expertise is way above my paygrade. I mean, The guy went to the White House and met President Obama. An Executive Producer and Head Writer of such shows as “The Soup”, “The D.L. Hughley Show”, “Norm MacDonald has a Show”… K.P. always has a project on, in the can, or in development. We caught up an a number of things; His summer family RV trip, His last show “Blind Date”, The White House story… just to mention a few.
I don’t know anyone more in touch with what’s going on in Hollywood either. It was eye-opening to see how Covid is affecting him and his company. Every aspect of the Entertainment industry is in neutral, so to speak. Between shutdowns, quarantines, elections, and protests…. the whole town is trying to figure out what to do next. So, in classic K.P fashion, he took that time to write a novel. I have never felt more lazy.
K.P. is also an old road dog. While “fondly” remembering sleeping in rest areas as we travel the country to perform stand-up, as well as the numerous road bumps our careers/lives have hit over the years… I realized those hurdles earlier in life helped prepare both of us for a turbulent 2020. That kind of “we’ve been here before, we’ll get through it, we always do, life will go on…” mentality is in reality, motivating and somewhat of a relief. We have been here before. We will get through this. The “It’s tough all around” concept was summed up best by K.P. “We’re all getting kicked in the teeth.” Life will go on.
